Went to our nation's capital this weekend. It was my last chance for a flag mistreatment photo this month, so I had to go with it. But I have several better pics from the trip here. Here are a couple of my faves:

One of my colleagues has been talking about this restaurant for ages, and he finally convinced me to go there for lunch. Beautiful food. And pretty tasty too!
Starter: popcorn soup with shrimp rounds, balsamic jicama slices, chive oil and some kind of micro greens.
Entree: wagyu beef with fleur de sel, coffee gnocchi, and caramelized pickled onions with coconut cream and asian greens.
Dessert: cappuccino ice cream with cinnamon crunch, soft chocolate and tortilla strips.
We also got small dishes between courses and afterwards. Quite an experience!

June 21: things!
Sean and I did the Great Urban Race today! We had a ton of fun. Costumes are recommended for the race, so we dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Cat in the Hat. One of the things we had to do on the race was find this memorial to John Lennon in Central Park and get a photo of both us in front of it flashing a peace sign. So there you go! More pictures from the race here.

June 10: Roebling
Again, the haze is for real, not a problem with my camera. Last day of the heat wave. I was sitting in a meeting when I noticed this building out the window of our conference room. Roebling caught my attention since it's the name of the engineers who built the Brooklyn Bridge, one of my very favorite structures in NYC.
June 9: hot
Day 3 of the heat wave. UGH. I have this strange compulsion to know what the temperature is all the time. So we have a couple of thermometers in the house. This one is an indoor/outdoor model. The temp outside is 94.1 F. Yikes.
This indoor-only thermometer is in our bedroom: 94.3 F. At 616pm. Disgusting.
I realize these are crappy pics, but it was just too hot to do much.

Not so nice today. Same beach, different morning. This pic is in color, not B&W. It's really that monochromatic.
I mentioned already that I wasn't impressed with Trump Plaza. The rooms were old, small and not terribly clean. The second room I was in (after switching because of the smoke problem) had the oldest working alarm clock I think I've ever seen in a hotel. Nothing says high class like faux wood grain.
June 2: Trump
Traveled to Atlantic City today for a conference. I stayed at Trump Plaza and was fairly unimpressed. My nonsmoking room reeked of smoke and I had to request a different room. The wallpaper was patched and peeling in places, and the ceiling was crumbling. The carpet was stained, and there was inch-thick dust on the mini-fridge (which was making a noise like a dying goose) and behind the armoire. All in all, not terribly nice.
