I guess Christmas is over for these people. Pack it up or throw it out. Poor Rudolph.

Gingerbread house

My mother-in-law gave me a gingerbread house kit at Thanksgiving this year, and I wanted to build it to use as a centerpiece when we had them over for dinner yesterday. Here are a couple of pics!

I made this gingerbread house from a kit. Here's a full-size shot.

December 25: tree(s)

IMG_5904

Oh Christmas tree(s), oh Christmas tree(s)...

The first one is my in-laws' tree; the second is mine. (Full disclosure: the pic of my tree was actually taken on December 23.)

December 24: angel

IMG_5914

This is my advent calendar. On Christmas Eve the last ornament goes on the tree. In my family, the angel is always the last ornament and she goes at the top. I tried to take a closeup of the angel but the pics were way too blurry.

Merry Christmas!

December 19: gloom

IMG_5848

This is not a black & white picture, believe it or not. The sun looks so weird behind the clouds.

Update for Jodi

I know Jodi is tired of seeing those lemons, but I wanted to point out that I finished the limoncello and it is fantastic! So yay me. :)

Scary right?

December 12: sick

IMG_5780

I barely got out of my PJs all day.

December 11: Santa

This is a little cheesy, but I'm sick and barely left the house today.

Sean got this in Japan.

Continuing with the blue light theme from the past couple of days. Bonus Christmas decorations in the background!

December 8: oink

IMG_5734

My friend E sent me this piggy keychain. When you press a button on the top, his snout shines blue and he makes an oink sound. It is the most awesome thing ever. Here is a pic of him in regular light.

December 6: shadow

IMG_5725

I HAVE a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India-rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there’s none of him at all.

December 5: biodegradable

IMG_5719

When I read this label out of the corner of my eye the other day, I thought that last line said "one biodegradable wiFe". And I thought, "Well, aren't they all?" But then I remembered plastic surgery and figured probably not. :(

December 4: smiley

I just love this picture.

December 3: wallpaper

IMG_5696

Our house was built in 1896 and most of our walls have layers upon layers of various wallcoverings. The landlords are doing some renovation, and this appeared among the demo debris. You can see various layers of paint and wallpaper, but the pink and green flowers are my hands-down favorite. I just can't imagine papering a whole room with that outrageous print! It is kinda Christmassy, though, so bonus points for that!

December 2: snow!

First snow of the season! Zoe liked it. Janey wasn't so keen...

December 1: random

IMG_5681

I can't believe it's December already.

I opened my jar of hand cream this morning to find this heart. It's so fascinating when chaos creates order.
