September mosaic

Yay, my first full month of project365!

September 30: warning

IMG_4787

I wish I had one of these to put at the entrance to my cubicle when I'm having a bad day.

September 29: asterisk

IMG_4773

Not terribly jazzed about this pic, but I guess they can't all be winners. I do like the pattern of our tin ceiling. It's original to the house, which I'm told was built in 1896.

September 28: graffiti

IMG_4737

I call this one "ohyeahrobomouse".

I have a runner-up pic for today as well: click. I didn't pick it because I posted a similar photo earlier this month, but I really like it.

September 27: SoHoPos(t)er

Corner of Spring and Wooster. She looks so prim, and a bit melancholy.

September 26: papers

IMG_4726

Freebie papers. I believe there are 10 dispensers on this corner. This pic is part of my series for a photo scavenger hunt I saw in the NYT. See the whole story here.

Tuesday, September 25

New furniture!

It's here, it's here! And all put together. Whew.

Not a strange thing to see
Seems normal to me
Just a cat up a tree

Work

Here, in a nutshell, is my day yesterday:

IMG_4682

Ugh. Thank goodness for weekends.

September 21: beer-thirty

IMG_4683

We went to Heartland, one of our favorite places, for happy hour yesterday. We had our welcome dinner here the night before our wedding. Hard to believe that was a year ago already!

September 19: breakfast

IMG_4663

Photojojo challenged me to take a picture of my breakfast this morning. Kinda boring, but there ya go.

Tuesday, September 18

September 18: Birkenstocks

IMG_4657

I love Birks. This pair was hanging out on the sidewalk on my block this morning. I wonder if they've been abandoned.

Monday, September 17

September 17: practice

IMG_4650

I think this is supposed to be a wolf.

September 16: scumbag

Graffiti near the skeletal monstrosity I photographed last week.

Ponytail holders

IMG_4635

I spiffed up these ponytail holders this afternoon. These are two different projects. The ones on the right are all made from buttons you cover (instructions here), and the one on the left is beaded (instructions here). I love the button ones!

IMG_4640

I dig the beaded one too, but I'm worried that the wire on it will pull my hair, so we'll see. (Sorry, these pics are a tad blurry.)

Brooklyn sights

On Saturday we went to the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with Mom and Dad. We had never been before. It was a great day! Here is a brief photo record.

It was really hard to pick one photo for this day. We went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with my parents (more on that here) and I had some great photos. But I finally chose this one. Here is the first runner-up.

Another bracelet

I like my crochet bracelet so much that I decided to make one for my mom. Now that I've given it to her, here's a pic!

September 12: peace

This poster is located on a building near my office that is undergoing some kind of renovation/demolition. The poster itself is fabulously weird, plus I really like the whole visual context here.

Delivery guys

Some time ago, I ranted about UPS not delivering my packages. Well, now it's time to rant about Fedex. Their jerk delivery guy brought two boxes for our landlords, who live downstairs, and left them at our door. That is fine. But somehow in the process, the idiot apparently managed to knock over one of my potted hibiscus plants, and didn't even bother to pick it up, let alone clean up all the dirt that spilled out.

So this is what I came home to:

IMG_4503

That's one plant turned over on top of the other. *&^%$#@!

Update: This morning Sean found the pot knocked over again, so he says it was probably the wind and not the Fedex guy. So, fine, I guess Fedex is off the hook for now. Hrmph.

September 11: panties

IMG_4501

In Brooklyn, it is not uncommon to see articles of clothing hanging from people's fences. These are usually items that people are giving away or items that someone found on the sidewalk in the front of the house and assumed to be misplaced by the people who live there (think gloves in the wintertime).

Notwithstanding all that, these little panties are just weird.

P.S. I wish I had turned off the flash for this picture. But there were people around, and I didn't want them to think I am some perv who goes around taking pictures of little girls' panties.

September 10: hulk

IMG_4492

This skeletal monstrosity of a building is being stacked like Jenga blocks down the street from our house. It's practically swallowing up the laundromat building next door, jutting out over its back porch and roof. Air rights. Can you believe those bastards wouldn't sell? Developers suck.

September 9: sky

The clouds looked really strange today.

Package innards

Kate and Eryn have both received their packages, so let me share the contents:
