NYC marathon

IMG_5314

Today was the NYC marathon. Gorgeous day. I love to go watch the marathon. I'm amazed by the sheer numbers of runners, many of whom write their names and the names of people for whom they are running on their shirts. I'm amazed by the outlay of city resources: police on duty, roads closed, sanitation workers doing overtime. I'm amazed by the enthusiasm and excitement of the crowd, shouting encouragement and cheering for runners they don't even know. It all makes me feel good about NYC, about people, about life.

P.S. I love the marathon so much, I am thinking about trying to run it myself. Maybe this would be a good goal for my 35th year of life (2009). We'll see.

  1. I so totally am feeling inspired to train, too. But being as I can hardly make it a mile without passing out from boredom, I don't know that it's going to happen.
