quick & easy loop scarf

even though i own quite a few scarves, once i saw this tutorial, i had to try it. the stripey fabric in the tutorial reminded me of this purple striped jersey knit i had picked up from the remnant section on a whim during a random trip to the fabric store. i didn't have a project in mind for it at the time, but when i came across the tutorial, i had a snap of recognition.

my remnant fabric wasn't quite the right size/shape -- it was more square than rectangular, so i cut it in half and stitched it end-to-end to make a long skinny rectangle. then proceeded with the directions in the tutorial.

i am not a good seamstress but am trying to improve. i like that this tutorial isn't persnickety. the "good enough" approach works for my skill level and time constraints!

because my stitching isn't very straight, i had to go back and frankenstein the long seam in one place on this scarf, and the seam where the two short ends meet is a total mess! but i hid the ugly seams behind my neck and underneath the top loop of the scarf, so you really can't tell when i'm wearing it.

i think mine came out a bit too long. but if i tried harder to sew straight and keep my seams neat (and maybe used matching thread! duh), i could almost pull this off convincingly! ha. a little flower or faux fur pin might be a cute addition too. i'm sure i can find a tutorial online...
